At Bombers CrossFit, we are counting down the days until the CrossFit Games Open! Starting Feb. 25, the first stage of the CrossFit Games begins, and athletes will gather at CrossFit gyms around the world to compete in the five-week, five-workout online competition. The goal? To push your limits and test your skills as an athlete—and garner a little friendly competition.

To the non-elite athlete—99% of us out there—the idea of competing in the Open can be intimidating; however, regardless of your skill level or age, participation in the Open is a wonderful opportunity to challenge yourself mentally and physically. Take a look at our top three reasons to sign up:

  1. It will make you step outside of your comfort zone. Whether it is doing a movement you haven’t nailed down yet or pushing yourself just a little bit harder than normal, you will find that you are capable of more than you ever realized. The impossible is achievable when you don't hold yourself back.
  2. Bombers CrossFit GymIt is a great motivator. There is nothing more motivating than watching and cheering on your fellow athletes as they push through hard CrossFit workouts. Celebrate the achievements of others as well as your own.
  3. It is fun! Although it's labeled a competition, the Open is about connecting like-minded people. Each week will complete the workouts during normal class hours. Then starting at 6:30 p.m., the Bombers CrossFit community will come together as we host Friday Night Throwdown events where a few members will compete head-to-head in a competition-style atmosphere.

Whether you decide to register online so you can see how you rank against other athletes or you want to test the limits of your own personal goals, the Open is the perfect time to test your endurance and strength, discover your athletic capacity, and uncover just how amazing you are.
