When it comes to collector cars, there’s no better beauty on four wheels than the Mustang. Just ask anyone who’s been to the Charlotte AutoFair Produced by Hornet’s Nest. At 50 years old, the Mustang is an automobile icon, and still holds the gold standard for cars everywhere.

Here are three favorite Mustangs of the AutoFair throughout history:

  • The 1962 Mustang I Concept. While this skinny prototype doesn’t look much like a Mustang, it was a fully drivable race car with space frame construction and a V-4 engine powering the rear.

  • The 1968 EXP 500 “Green Hornet.” This rare auto was based on the California Special Mustangs, which were sold only in the Sunshine State. Today, this single beauty – which could reportedly go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds – has a reserve price of $2.5 million.

  • The 1993 Cobra R. New technology and innovations helped make this Mustang the most responsive and durable yet. However, you had to have a racing license to purchase one, so many are no longer in showroom condition!

Can’t get enough Mustang? Come to the Charlotte AutoFair Produced by Hornet’s Nest this fall! You’ll see the largest selection of collector cars and exhibits in the region. Visit the auto show’s website today to reserve your spot!
