True Crime is pretty popular.  One need look no further than our backyard with the popular Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer".  For a criminal defense attorney it is kind of a vindication.  We are considered by many as persons who "get people off" on "technicalities" or who "work the system".   But when you look at the Steven Avery and Brendan Dassy case (and others), you see what good criminal defense lawyers really do:  Stand up for people's rights.  Not let the police and the State strong arm and intimidate our clients.  You also get to see what bad defense attorney's do.  You get to see what happens when a defense attorney acts as shill for the prosecution and works against his or her client's interest.  In my 19 years as a defense attorney I have never seen such despicable behavior.   A good defense attorney stands up.  A good defense attorney isn't intimidated by the State.  A good defense attorney is a sword in the darkness.  I will stand up for you.  The call is free.
