About Cal-Wood Education Center

 

Cal-Wood Education Center is located on 1,200 acres, at an elevation of 7,800 feet and surrounded by the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest outside Jamestown, CO. They have served the Boulder County and Denver Metro areas since 1982, providing area youth and adults with a unique outdoor experience keep the vision of Roger and Oral Calvert strong.

At Cal-Wood Education Center, their school programs include outdoor recreation activities, such as hiking, field observation, team building, nature awareness activities, and conservation themes. Teachers can select academic lessons for each trip, which contain at least one hands-on activity. Academic offerings include archery, forestry, learning to use maps and compasses, studying rocks and minerals, and survival skills.

Cal-Wood Education Center also provides a variety of educational and recreational camps. Their summer kids camps are open to campers from grades three to 12 and range from four to seven days long. Summer camps allow children to explore forests, meadows, creeks, and historical sites while bonding with new and old friends. They also offer family camping weekends and Latino Family Camp. Family camps include hiking, fishing, and outdoor learning activities. Team building games and campfire songs are also part of the activities.
