About Marie Strain International Peace Foundation

A History of International Peace

If more and more people believed in spreading peace, the world would undoubtedly be a better place. Making a stand for herself, peace advocate Marie Strain founded Peace Day in Concord, Massachusetts in 1980. This idea led to the opening of the non-profit organization The Marie Strain International Peace Foundation, Inc.

The Marie Strain International Peace Foundation started in 2004. Barbara Walker, a peace advocate, received a great honor from Governor Mitt Romney for all of her peace work with the foundation. In 2012, Barbara also received a certificate of Appreciate, and recognized as a Champion for children from Save the Children. She helped with the Henri J. M. Nouwen archives and research collection, receiving token from words from Henry Nouwen taken from his book "Life of the Beloved."

The basis behind the foundation is simple – peace! The organization strives to promote peace at a local, national, and international level. They have attended events around International Peace Day and World Day of Prayer, as well as organizing their own events in the community. Here you can donate to the cause by purchasing merchandise, going towards worthy causes, such as helping children in need.

If you’re interested in spreading peace in your community, The Marie Strain International Peace Foundation, Inc. will come speak at schools and other organizations.

Donations made to the foundation will go towards several causes and groups, like the:
