Divided into two different restaurant experiences, Cavey's is a Northern Italian restaurant on the ground floor, and a modern, elegant, refined French restaurant on the lower floor.
Each restaurant has its own separate kitchen and its own staff. Steve Cavagnaro, the owner & operator of both floors, is also the executive chef in both restaurants. The Italian restaurant was conceived by Cavagnaro’s grandparents over 75 years ago, and Cavagnaro added the French restaurant downstairs much more recently.
Cavagnaro worked at Joel Robuchon’s three star restaurant “Jamin” in Paris. He traveled throughout France and Italy to further enhance his culinary education. He is known for his outstanding excellence in the kitchen as well as his extensive French and Italian wine lists.
The Zagat Restaurant Guide awarded Cavey’s the highest rating in Connecticut, along with a three star rating from The New York Times. The Wine Spectator awarded Cavey’s the “Best of Award of Excellence."
